NFT is short for “non-fungible token.” Unlike cryptocurrency, such as bitcoin or dogecoin, which is fungible, NFT is unique and can’t be replaced with something else.
NFTs can be anything digital, from drawings, music to your tweets in JPEG, and your brain downloaded and turned into an AI, but the current excitement centres around using the tech to sell digital art.
When someone buys an NFT from the creator, they obtain ownership in the sense that it becomes their property. After all, an NFT is a digital certificate of ownership representing the purchase of a digital asset, traceable on the blockchain. But the NFT holder does not have any other rights to the work.
Your favorite brands will drop digital fashion NFTs in which you can wear with AI filters on social media. Or imagine your Fortnite character in a one-of-a-kind NFT skin during the next exciting battle.
